Lago Atitlan, Guatemala, March 2012. A trip to the Solola market is an unforgetable experience. Solola is a Cachikel city of about 80,000, mostly Mayan people. It is the capital of the province of the same name, and has a breath-taking view of Lake Atitlan and its volcanoes. The colorful local folks come to Solola from all over the area to do their weekly shopping. This market sees few tourists. Laguna de Atitlán, Lake Atitlan, is a beautiful volcanic lake in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. It is ringed by small towns, many of which are favourites among backpackers. The region encompasses the lake and the towns around them.
