Trekking on the Volcanoes of Sicily and the Eolian Islands of Italy
Nicolosi, Etna, Sicily, June 2006. The Etna erupts almost every other year. This Madonna is a place of worship. She was burried under lava but miraculously survived. Climbing it, one can peek into the steaming craters. The volcanoes of Southern Italy offer a spectacular landscape for trekking while staying in picturesque towns.
